Old Dirt Road by the Bluebonnets In Texas by Michele Volpe Original Pastel Painting on 16 X 12 pastel paper. The color of the dirt clay on this road it what inspired me to paint this scene. The contrast between the color of the road and the color of the bluebonnets was just so striking! I can just picture an old pick up driving along this road with the dust kicking up in its wake. There’s probably a dull buzz of the insects as they flit about the bluebonnets resonating through the hot,dry Texas air. There was just an overall feeling of laziness when I looked at this scene.
