Crashing Idea by Michele Volpe original watercolor with gouache accents on 15 X 20 watercolor paper, frame size 13.5 X 10.5. The sound of waves crashing on the rocks is so soothing. It can put you into a trance. My inspiration was sitting on a rock outcropping on Martha’s Vineyard and watching the waves come up and crash against them. I could sit there for hours. It combines two of my happy place’s, Martha’s Vineyard and the ocean. There are so many places to sit and watch the waves but one of my favorites is in Menemsha right before sundown. I may have used a bit of my artistic license to create the composition but I got the color of the ocean and the sky right. This painting would look great in Nautical decor, beach themed decor or in anyone’s home that enjoys the ocean. It would hang well in a hallway, living room, sunroom, office or den.
