Abstract Peonies by Michele Volpe original acrylic painting on 16 x 20 stretched canvas. This is a still life of two vases of peonies in the afternoon painted in an abstract style. I thought I would try something a bit different from my usual approach to painting. The sharp angles of the wall and table and the juxtaposition of the vases and flowers make a nice composition. I used complementary colors to give added contrast. Peonies are one of my favorite flowers and I’ve painted another still life of them that was more realistic. That painting has been sold.
