Dockside in Vineyard Haven, Martha’s Vineyard original Mixed Media Acrylic Painting by Michele Volpe on a 16X20 stretched canvas. Going to the Black Dog Restaurant in Vineyard Haven is a yearly tradition in my family. Walking down to the docks and looking at the boats is half the fun. There’s a boatyard next door that always has a wooden boat being worked on. That’s why I included some in the painting along with the dock. This painting is filled with happy summer memories for me. I tried to convey that with the beautiful pastel colors contrasted with the wooden dock and stands. The base of the painting is acrylic paint follow by layers upon layers of tissue paper to give it translucency. I also added some fabric embellishments to look like fishing nets. This painting is perfect for all lovers of the Black Dog and the views from it’s restaurant, lovers of Martha’s Vineyard and sailors of Vineyard Sound. It would be a great addition to anyone’s art collection featuring seaside themes, Martha’s Vineyard, mixed media paintings and more!
