Description
Field of Sunny Wildflowers by Michele Volpe original Watercolor with Gouache accents on 9X12 300lb cotton water color paper. There’s just nothing like walking through a lush field of wildflowers on a sunny day. That was my inspiration for this painting. The colors were bright and happy and you just couldn’t help but feel good walking amongst them. The field hadn’t been hayed in a long time so the seeds of the wildflowers have been able to take over and they were blooming as far as the eye could see. In order to achieve the brightness of some of the flowers, I used Gouache which is an opaque watercolor medium. With it, you are able to achieve bright whites and vibrant colors you can’t when using watercolors by themselves. They complement themselves beautifully. It’s the first time I’ve used them in this way, but I’m very pleased with the results. This painting would look great hanging in a small space and would liven it up. It would complement any decor. I hope you enjoy my painting!
